I am a clinical Interventional Radiologist and Vice Chair of Research at a large academic institution. I perform a range of image-guided procedures for treatment of a variety of diseases. I am a part of a group in a level I trauma center that provides service 24 hours per a day and 7 days a week throughout the calendar year for both inpatients and outpatients. I routinely see patients in clinic to evaluate their illness, to discuss treatment options, and to follow-up after therapy. I have admitting privileges for monitoring my post-procedural patients and also routinely oversee the Interventional Radiology consult service. I also perform interpretations of non-invasive cardiovascular imaging studies. Additionally, I participate in and help administer weekly multi-disciplinary hepatic tumor board and vascular conferences. My clinical group is a key member of a number of facets of clinical care in a robust academic medical setting.

Dr. Michael Amendola is a practicing vascular surgeon at the Central Virginia VA Health Care System (CVVHS) in Richmond Virginia. He is the Division Chief of Vascular Surgery and the Head of The Vascular Duplex Laboratory. Dr. Amendola obtained his undergraduate and graduate degree in Chemistry from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. He subsequently worked as a Research Associate for Merck and Company in Rahway, New Jersey utilizing computer aided rational drug design. He then undertook funded research in Department of Genetics at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine (VCU-SOM) In Richmond, Virginia. He started and completing medical school at VCU-SOM in 2002. He completed his general surgery residency and vascular surgery fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond Virginia. I have extensive experience in both Interventional and Diagnostic Neuroradiology. I completed all my medical training at one of the best institutions in the world: New York-Presbyterian Hospital- Weill Cornell Medicine. Such training includes Internal Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology, Diagnostic Neuroradiology, and Interventional Neuroradiology / NeuroEndovascular Surgery. On the diagnostic side, I am board certified in Diagnostic Radiology and Neuroradiology by the American Board of Radiology. Throughout my training and in the years that I have been in practice, I have interpreted thousands of MRI’s and CT’s of the brain and spine.
