Hossein Mahboubi MD, MPH is a dual board-certified otolaryngologist with fellowship training in otology, neurotology and skull base surgery, a sub-specialty focusing on the diseases of the ear and hearing, balance, and facial nerves. Dr. Mahboubi completed his residency in otolaryngology - head and neck surgery at University of California Irvine following a post-doctoral research fellowship at the same institution, which helped develop his passion for treating ear and skull base diseases. He then spent additional two years completing a clinical fellowship in otology and neurotology at House Ear Clinic and University of California Los Angeles where he advanced his skills in cochlear implants, stapedectomy, and complex ear and lateral skull base surgery.

I graduated from Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit with high distinction, and while in medical school received an NIH grant to study the molecular biology of hearing loss. I then completed my general surgery internship and otolaryngology and head and neck surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. I subsequently completed a two-year fellowship in Neurotology and cranial base surgery at The Ohio State University. I have added certification in the treatment of skull base and intracranial pathology with stereotactic radiosurgery and radiotherapy (Gamma Knife and Cyberknife).
I have been academically active and have published on a variety of topics in my field.
