I have been working as a board-certified vascular surgeon in a tertiary academic practice in Grand Rapids, MI since completing my fellowship in 2013. Though my skills have remained broad over that time, my involvement in our Carotid and Endovascular Board has provided me specific expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with carotid artery occlusive disease, with or without stroke. As one of the founding members in 2014, I continue to be involved in this weekly multi-disciplinary collaborative case review of challenging patients with various pathologies of ischemic brain events. Also, during most of my time in Grand Rapids, I have been the quality lead of our busy vascular surgery group. After completing Washington University School of Medicine, and training in general, cardiothoracic, and pediatric cardiac surgery, I embarked upon an academic career in cardiac surgery, pediatric cardiac surgery, and critical care. I am the author of many peer reviewed journal articles and abstracts and have presented at national and international meetings. I have participated in teaching and research in the medical school environment. My expert witness experience has been in the fields of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, both adult and pediatric, and also in the area of critical care.

I am a clinical Interventional Radiologist and Vice Chair of Research at a large academic institution. I perform a range of image-guided procedures for treatment of a variety of diseases. I am a part of a group in a level I trauma center that provides service 24 hours per a day and 7 days a week throughout the calendar year for both inpatients and outpatients. I routinely see patients in clinic to evaluate their illness, to discuss treatment options, and to follow-up after therapy. I have admitting privileges for monitoring my post-procedural patients and also routinely oversee the Interventional Radiology consult service. I also perform interpretations of non-invasive cardiovascular imaging studies. Additionally, I participate in and help administer weekly multi-disciplinary hepatic tumor board and vascular conferences.
