I started in the fire service in 1972 in the U.S. Air Force. Three years at Mather AFB, one year in Kunsan, Korea, three years as a civilian firefighter at McClellan AFB, and twenty years for the City of Sacramento fire department. I held the position of firefighter, fire investigator, and captain. I also filled in as an acting battalion chief for five years.
