Asaff Harel MD MSC is an Associate Professor of Neurology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and serves as the Director of the North Shore/LIJ Neurology Residency Program and Director of the Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Center. Dr. Harel has been in clinical practice since graduating residency in 2015. He is highly active in medical education, having worked as site director for the medical school neurology rotation for 3 years, after which he became the director of the residency program. He has been involved in curriculum development and teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. He is well-versed in the treatment and management of patients with general neurological conditions, such as TBI, concussion, stroke, neuropathy, and anoxic brain injury. Additionally, he subspecializes in the care of people with neuroimmunological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica, MOGAD, sarcoidosis, central nervous system vasculitis. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed both residency and a neuroimmunology fellowship at the Mount Sinai Hospital. Outside of clinical work and teaching, Dr. Harel is heavily involved in research, including several clinical trials. Dr. Harel has published over 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and 3 book chapters, and has presented over 20 times at national and international conferences. He regularly contributes to online media (video and writtent) in the field of multiple sclerosis as well as Alzheimer's, migraines, and seizures. Having reviewed over 30 cases, Dr. Harel has substantial experience as a medical expert witness for general neurological conditions such as stroke/vascular disesase, TBI/concussion, trauma, neuroimmunology, as well as in vaccine court. Dr. Harel also has significant experience performing IMEs. Dr. Harel is open to traveling for cases. A "short form" CV is included on the site.
