1Additional Information
Dr. Kathryn Parris is a board-certified OB/GYN physician executive with more than 22 years of clinical experience, including extensive expertise in high-risk obstetrics, gynecology, hospital leadership, quality improvement, peer review, and medical malpractice case review. For more than a decade, she has reviewed complex clinical cases through formal peer review committees and independent consulting, applying her clinical judgment to evaluate the standard of care, interpret medical records and diagnostic findings, and provide clear, well-supported medical opinions. Dr. Parris has served in several senior clinical leadership positions, including Medical Director of Women's Health Services for Northside Hospital Gwinnett and Duluth, Medical Director of Gwinnett Physician Group OB/GYN, and Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In these roles, she was responsible for developing, implementing, reviewing, and updating clinical protocols and practice guidelines to improve patient safety, clinical outcomes, and consistency of care. She also participated in numerous hospital committees focused on physician performance, quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical quality review. For more than 10 years, Dr. Parris chaired the OB/GYN Peer Review Committees at both Northside Hospital Gwinnett and Gwinnett Medical Center. She also served on Gwinnett Medical Center's Multidisciplinary Peer Review Committee (MPRC), where she evaluated highly complex cases involving multiple medical specialties and system-wide quality issues. These experiences strengthened her ability to analyze cases objectively, assess the broader clinical context, and determine whether the care provided met the applicable standard of care. Through Ellerslie Consulting, Dr. Parris continues to provide physician peer review, clinical protocol evaluation, practice assessments, and medical malpractice litigation support. Dr. Parris is especially interested in expert witness work because it combines the areas to which she has devoted much of her career: clinical judgment, case analysis, medical education, and clear communication. She is experienced in reviewing extensive medical records, including fetal heart rate tracings, laboratory data, imaging studies, physician and nursing documentation, and treatment timelines, and distilling complex medical information into clear, objective, and understandable opinions. Her goal is to provide attorneys, insurance professionals, and the courts with the medical context necessary to understand what occurred, determine whether the applicable standard of care was met, and explain how the clinical facts relate to the issues in each case. In addition to her clinical and peer review expertise, Dr. Parris brings significant experience as a physician leader and educator. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with residents, nurses, physicians, hospital administrators, and multidisciplinary teams to improve clinical performance, foster collaboration, and promote evidence-based practice. Her leadership experience, combined with her ability to communicate complex medical issues clearly and objectively, enables her to provide balanced, credible, and well-reasoned expert opinions in both consulting and litigation settings.
