She has over 10 years of experience in a high volume surgical practice at a Top 5 national pediatric hospital. She is an expert in surgical safety protocols, airway reconstruction, and tracheostomy management. Dr. Espinel is experienced in clinical risk review and medical education, with a proven ability to distill complex surgical outcomes for non-medical audiences. Prior consultant work experience as expert external reviewer for a major university health system & as device safety and clinical development expert for medical device company. She is a full-time academic pediatric otolaryngologist with faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics performing over 1000 procedures annually. Her administrative roles include working to ensure the hospital meets the highest national standards for surgical safety by working on the surgical verification program to help achieve ASC level 1 status and overseeing the tracheostomy care protocols. Dr. Espinel is the program director of the ACGME accredited fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology in which she ensures the next generation of surgeons are trained to meet the highest standards of care.
