Additional Information

Patients deserve “The Right Care, In The Right Place, At The Right Time” whether in a correctional facility or on the street. Human beings make mistakes; doctors, nurses, correctional officers and patients. The key to a successful determination and resolution of a dispute over who is responsible for injuries suffered by a patient is a complete, detailed evaluation of the entire situation. Drawing on the depth and breadth of my diverse background of more than 30 years in all aspects of healthcare in many different arenas, I will provide you with a complete and thorough assessment based on the facts supported by the standard of medical care in the medical community. Correctional Care, Inc. (C.C.I.), Old Forge, PA 2004 to Present President & Chief Medical Officer Responsible for all clinical, operational and administrative activities of this healthcare organization. Provide direct medical care as well as oversee all nursing, dental and psychiatric services. Negotiate contracts with various hospitals, pharmacy providers, ambulance services, and specialty physicians. 1) Coordinate the continuum of care both within and outside the Correctional Facilities. Multiple reporting relationships to the Boards of Directors of the various contracted correctional facilities along with their supervising commissioners, and various members of the Commonwealth and Federal Judiciary, the United States Marshall’s Service, and the Bureau of Immigration & Customs Enforcement. Lead a team that has taken several very troubled & dysfunctional healthcare systems and turned them into models for others to emulate. The United States Marshall’s Service routinely sends their most challenging patients for treatment. Since beginning operations on November 15, 2004, consistently achieved a 100% inspection rating by both the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections & the Bureau of Immigration & Customs Enforcement. 2) Starting in late 2019 we began the installation of the first electronic health records system at a County Prison. We installed our own dedicated fiberoptic system, complete with Wi-Fi on every housing unit, interconnecting with the onsite medical department & our offsite pharmacy, laboratory, & radiology providers. The system is securely connected to our corporate offices with automatic cloud back-up and remote access for our key providers. 3) In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Correctional Care, Inc. designed and implemented a detailed COVID-19 Pandemic Response Plan for multiple correctional facilities. We utilized Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) Interim Guidelines along with information from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Pennsylvania Department of Corrections & Infectious Disease Specialists. We continue to update this plan as our knowledge of how to prevent and treat the SARS-CoV-2 virus improves.
