Smyth, LNHA, CNHA, HSE, BCPA, CIFHA, CMDCP, is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator with over 25 years of experience in long-term care and post-acute care and holds active licensure in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. His expertise focuses on administrative, operational, and regulatory standards governing nursing homes and post-acute care facilities. He has been retained in over 35 cases involving both plaintiff and defense representation and has provided expert opinions in matters across multiple jurisdictions, including deposition testimony. His work includes case review, report preparation, and consultation with counsel, with deposition experience. Mr. Smyth’s experience includes senior administrative leadership in skilled nursing facilities, as well as prior roles in hospital and outpatient settings, including Assisted Living and Residential Care (RC/AL), Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS), Adult Daycare, Hospice, Emergency Department Administration, Hospital Administration, and clinic program administration. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Adelphi University and a master’s degree from Hofstra University. In 2018, he earned the Health Services Executive (HSE) designation, reflecting demonstrated competency across skilled nursing, assisted living, hospice, and home and community-based services (HCBS). Mr. Smyth is a Board-Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA), Certified Internal Forensic Healthcare Auditor (CIFHA), and Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional (CMDCP). He is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and the American College of Health Care Administrators (FACHCA). He served two terms (six years) on the Board of Directors of LeadingAge New York and held national leadership roles with the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA), including serving as Chair of the Professional Advancement Committee and participating on the National Convention Planning Committee. Mr. Smyth is a four-time recipient of the Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award (2013, 2014, 2016, 2021), recognizing sustained excellence in facility leadership and resident outcomes. Since 2010, Mr. Smyth has provided healthcare consulting services, with a focus on long-term care operations and regulatory compliance.
