Dr. Ravi S. Shah is a board-certified internal medicine physician and fellowship-trained gastroenterologist, currently serving as Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in North Carolina. He provides expert witness services in medical malpractice cases involving gastrointestinal diseases, procedural complications, delayed diagnosis, failure to diagnose, and improper management of complex GI conditions. With specialized expertise in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, perforation, bowel obstruction, and colon cancer, Dr. Shah regularly reviews cases involving breaches in the standard of care, causation of injury, and failure to follow established treatment guidelines. Dr. Shah completed his residency and fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, where he received advanced training in gastroenterology, hepatology, and clinical nutrition. He is also frequently consulted in litigation involving medication-related gastrointestinal injury, hospital-acquired infections, septic complications following GI interventions, improper surgical referrals, and failure to escalate care in IBD flare-ups or acute abdomen scenarios. An accomplished academic clinician, Dr. Shah has authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications and presented nationally on topics such as Crohn’s disease recurrence, biologic safety, postoperative IBD outcomes, GI bleeding management, and the risks of immunosuppressive therapy. He is a recipient of multiple national awards, including the ACG Outstanding Poster Presenter Award and the Presidential Poster Award, recognizing his contributions to gastrointestinal research and education.
