EDUCATION AND EXPERTISE: - Dual residency in both neurology and psychiatry. - Over 30 years of experience to include 5 years in private practice in both general neurology and general psychiatry, 5 years CA Dept. of Corrections, psychiatry, 20 years in CA Dept. of State Hospitals, psychiatry. - Comprehensive neuropsychiatric and neurobehavioral knowledge across the broad scope of mental disorders, treatment modalities, and diagnostic criteria. CLEAR COMMUNICATION SKILLS: - Ability to explain complex psychiatric concepts in clear, non-technical language suitable for judges, juries, and attorneys. ANALYTIC AND CRITICAL THINKING: - Ability to analyze medical records, psychological test, and collateral information. - Critical evaluation of evidence to form well-supported opinions. - Skilled in writing detailed coherent reports that address specific legal questions. - Ability to assess and evaluate mental health conditions accurately. - Familiarity of forensic psychiatry and understanding of legal standards related to mental health. - Understanding of court procedures, rules of evidence, and legal standards (e.g., competency, insanity, diminished capacity).
