Dr. Freedman completed her pediatric critical care fellowship in 2011 at UCSD/Rady Children's Hospital. This was followed by an additional year of training in pediatric cardiology at UCLA/Mattel Children's Hospital. She went on to work for 1.5 years in a dedicated pediatric cardiac intensive care unit before moving on to a combined medical/surgical and cardiac pediatric intensive care unit. Her locums tenens work experience at multiple hospitals in multiple states has familiarized Dr. Freedman with a variety of approaches to, and unit models for, providing care to critically ill infants and children. She also has extensive experience volunteering in pediatric intensive care units in resource limited settings around the world She currently works at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO and is a faculty member in the department of pediatrics at Saint Louis University. This is a level 1 trauma center and an award winning ECMO center. Dr. Freedman has been the chair of the committee that oversees and reviews all cardiac arrest events in the hospital since July of 2018 and has instituted multiple quality improvement projects that have collectively resulted in improved survival following in-hospital cardiac arrest. She is an expert in resuscitative medicine with a depth knowledge of the evidence and literature that exists regarding pediatric in-hospital cardiac arrest. Her work has earned the hospital several awards from the American Heart Association. She serves as a liaison between the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association .
