Dr. Marvin C. Mengel, M.D., FACE is a John’s Hopkins-trained physician and University of Florida-trained endocrinologist. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology with a long history of in- and outpatient management of patients with diabetes and care for patients with chronic diabetes complications. With more than 40 years’ experience, he is an expert not only in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism, but also in medical administration and medical coding. Dr. Mengel has been in private practice and has served as Medical Director of Endocrine Units in various hospitals in Central Florida over 30 years. He has taught residents and medical students at the University of Florida and the University of Central Florida as well as trained nurse practitioners, nurses, and lay audiences in diabetes care and the avoidance of hospital errors. He has co-authored of several books and over fifty articles in medical journals. Dr. Mengel has had worked in administration in several hospitals related to medical quality and coding decisions. He has also served as a consultant evaluating cases for Medicare and insurance status and payment. More recently, he has worked to evaluate disability claims of patients with diabetes and other chronic problems.
