Dr. Varun Varadarajan is a neurotologist, otologist and skull base surgeon with dual board certifications in otolaryngology and neurotology. He specializes in the management of ear and hearing-related disorders. As a lifelong musician, Dr. Varadarajan obtained a degree in music before pursuing his medical career. He fostered his passion for auditory perception by pursuing subspecialty training in otology, neurotology and skull base surgery after completing his otolaryngology residency. Dr. Varadarajan received his bachelor’s degree with a double major in Music and Biology. Dr. Varadarajan attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed his otolaryngology residency at the University of Florida. I graduated from Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit with high distinction, and while in medical school received an NIH grant to study the molecular biology of hearing loss. I then completed my general surgery internship and otolaryngology and head and neck surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. I subsequently completed a two-year fellowship in Neurotology and cranial base surgery at The Ohio State University. I have added certification in the treatment of skull base and intracranial pathology with stereotactic radiosurgery and radiotherapy (Gamma Knife and Cyberknife). I have been academically active and have published on a variety of topics in my field. I have had a special interest in the molecular biology of acoustic neuroma‘s and also hearing preservation when treating these tumors.
