I received my medical degree from Georgetown Medical School in 1981. In my second year of medical school I attained the "Health Professions Scholarship" and was assigned to the United States Army for the remainder of my education. I completed my residency in obstetrics and gynecology from Madigan Army Medical Center from 1981-1985. I served as an OBGYN physician in Augsburg, Germany from 1985-1987. I completed my fellowship in gynecologic oncology from Duke University in 1990. I became board certified in obstetrics and gynecology in 1987 and in gynecologic oncology in 1992. I retain both of these certifications. I am, or was, a member of thirteen different state or national committees. I have had three clinical positions as a gynecologic oncologist.
