Additional Information

I received my medical degree from Georgetown Medical School in 1981. In my second year of medical school I attained the "Health Professions Scholarship" and was assigned to the United States Army for the remainder of my education. I completed my residency in obstetrics and gynecology from Madigan Army Medical Center from 1981-1985. I served as an OBGYN physician in Augsburg, Germany from 1985-1987. I completed my fellowship in gynecologic oncology from Duke University in 1990. I became board certified in obstetrics and gynecology in 1987 and in gynecologic oncology in 1992. I retain both of these certifications. I am, or was, a member of thirteen different state or national committees. I have had three clinical positions as a gynecologic oncologist. The first was at William Beaumont Army Medical Center where I was the chief of the section from 1990-1994. I was at West Virginia University Medical Center from 1994-2003. During my tenure at that institution, I was the section chief and the director of the residency program. From 2003 to the present, I have been at the University of Utah/Huntsman Cancer Institute. During my tenure there, I was an active clinician who evaluated approximately a thousand patients a year and performed four to five hundred surgical procedures yearly. I plan to retire from this position in July 2026. I am currently a non-tenure track professor at the University of Utah. During my entire career in academic medicine I have been awarded the outstanding teacher on nine occasions. I served as a board examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1994--2014. I have been awarded nineteen grants, have published fifty-nine academic papers, and have presented my research at national meetings approximately seventy times. I consider myself an expert in the treatment of all gynecologic malignancies.
