Dr. Joseph Valdez is a board-certified physician in both Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine with over a decade of clinical, academic, and leadership experience. He currently serves as Program Director of the ACGME-accredited Addiction Medicine Fellowship at Geisinger Health System and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. Dr. Valdez has extensive experience in outpatient addiction treatment, medication-assisted therapy, and the integration of addiction services into primary care. He has led clinical teams at ASAM levels 3.7 (medically managed inpatient), 2.5 (partial hospitalization program) and 1.7 (medically managed outpatient). His expertise spans the evaluation and treatment of substance use disorders, opioid & alcohol pharmacology, withdrawal management, and the neurobiology of addiction.
