Dr. Sher had an active corneal, refractive surgery and ophthalmology practice and specialized in laser vision correction (PRK and related procedures, complications of LASIK) and corneal disease. Dr. Sher has been involved in the laser refractive surgery field since its earliest days and was one of the first surgeons in the world to perform excimer therapeutic and laser vision correction. He has performed thousands of cataract surgeries and treated numerous patients with glaucoma. He has authored two textbooks, several monographs and dozens of peer reviewed articles on refractive surgery. He is an Adjunct Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota Medical School and currently, Adjunct Lecturer, Department of Ophthalmology at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, Chicago, IL.
