I am a doctorally prepared certified nurse-midwife with 30+ years of practice in both hospital and birth center settings, and teaching midwives. My passion and area of expertise is the birth center model of care. I served as president of the American Association of Birth Centers and was lead editor of the only textbook in the U.S. devoted to the freestanding birth center model. I am a published author in professional nursing journals and am a fellow of the American College of Nurse Midwives.

I am a doctorally prepared Certified Nurse Midwife with over 20 years of experience in high volume, high risk midwifery and obstetrics practices in New York, California and Australia as a clinician and educator. I have a doctoral degree in global health focusing on perinatal HIV management and information technology. Currently I practice as a midwife hospitalist at Kaiser Permanente Oakland, California where I precept Obstetric and Gynecologic residents on the labor and delivery unit and am a co-lead of the Critical Events Team Training for Obstetric Emergencies training program.

I am a 34 year old certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a strong affinity for obstetrics. While I have been a certified Nurse Practitioner for the past year, I have over a decade of Labor and Delivery experience. Having worked in a high risk obstetrical unit for both antepartum and postpartum patients I also work full time in Labor and Delivery. I have mastery of antenatal care and intrapartum care.
