Mr. Wankel served as the Director of the Sports and Convention Center at Suffolk County Community College in Brentwood, New York. Ed Wankel also served as the Commissioner of Recreation and Parks for the Town of Islip, New York, the Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Conservation for Suffolk County, New York and the Deputy Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for the State of New York. He currently serves on the Sports Equipment, Playing Surfaces and aquatic Facilities Committees with the American Society of Testing and Materials International (ASTM) and has taken the Playground Safety Course given by the National Recreation and Parks Association.
