Bassel Mufarreh, MSOP, L/CPO, is an ABC certified Prosthetist-Orthotist specializing in the evaluation, prescription, design, fabrication, fitting, and follow-up care of prosthetic and orthotic devices. His clinical practice includes both prosthetic and orthotic management, with a primary focus on lower extremity prosthetics. Mr. Mufarreh earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology with a minor in Psychology from Gonzaga University and a Master of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics from Loma Linda University. He completed an 18-month NCOPE accredited residency before becoming board certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC). His primary clinical expertise is in prosthetics, including the evaluation and treatment of individuals with limb loss, prosthetic component selection, socket design and fit, suspension systems, gait analysis, functional mobility assessment, and K-level evaluations. He also provides comprehensive orthotic care for patients with neurologic, musculoskeletal, and diabetic conditions, including custom lower extremity orthoses, diabetic foot management, Charcot neuroarthropathy, and bracing interventions designed to improve stability, mobility, and function. He is experienced in medical necessity documentation, HCPCS (L-code) coding, insurance appeals, and interpretation of Medicare and commercial insurance coverage policies related to prosthetic and orthotic services. He routinely prepares detailed clinical documentation supporting coverage determinations and has successfully authored numerous insurance appeals. In addition to his clinical practice, Bassel serves as an adjunct professor at Gonzaga University, where he developed and teaches an introductory course in Orthotics and Prosthetics for undergraduate Human Physiology students. He has also provided expert consultation in legal matters involving prosthetic care and is available for medical record review, standard of care evaluations, insurance and reimbursement matters, medical necessity opinions, deposition testimony, and expert witness services.
