James Rieger is a fixed income expert with more than 37 years of experience in bond valuation, pricing, indexing, and market analysis. He retired from S&P Global after serving as Managing Director and Global Head of Fixed Income Indices at S&P Dow Jones Indices and previously as Global Head of Fixed Income Evaluations at Standard & Poor's Securities Evaluations. His expertise includes municipal bonds, corporate bonds, distressed debt, securities valuation, fixed income pricing methodologies, benchmarks, and index construction. Mr. Rieger provides expert witness and consulting services involving municipal and corporate bond valuation, distressed and illiquid securities, fair value and impairment analysis, bond pricing services, fixed income benchmarks and indices, ETF design, and fixed income analytics. He has been retained in litigation involving bond valuation, index methodology, and fixed income market practices, providing expert analysis, written opinions, and deposition testimony. At S&P Dow Jones Indices, Mr. Rieger led the development of fixed income indices across more than 30 countries, including the S&P Municipal Bond Index Series, S&P 500 Bond Index Family, and S&P Green Bond Index Family, supporting investment products totaling more than $46 billion in assets under management. Mr. Rieger is also a Finance Lecturer at Clemson University, where he developed and teaches the university's first Fixed Income Analytics course. A frequent speaker on fixed income markets, he has appeared on CNBC, Bloomberg, and other financial media, and is skilled at explaining complex valuation and market issues to attorneys, judges, arbitrators, and juries. He was also a long-standing member (25+ years) of several leading fixed income and municipal finance organizations, including the National Federation of Municipal Analysts (NFMA), the Municipal Analysts Group of New York (MAGNY), the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA), and the Fixed Income Analysts Society, Inc. (FIASI).
