Additional Information

I am a board-certified Physician Assistant with more than 18 years of clinical experience and extensive expertise in emergency medicine. I earned my Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in 2008. After graduation, I practiced in obstetrics and gynecology for two years before transitioning to emergency medicine, where I have practiced for the past 16 years. My experience spans academic teaching hospitals, trauma centers, community emergency departments, and urgent care settings. This diverse clinical background has provided extensive experience in the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and disposition of patients presenting with a broad range of emergent and urgent medical conditions across all age groups. I currently practice emergency medicine with Houston Methodist in a high-volume emergency department that cares for approximately 62,000 patient visits annually. This setting provides ongoing exposure to a broad spectrum of medical, surgical, and traumatic emergencies, allowing me to maintain extensive experience in the evaluation and management of both common and complex emergency presentations. In addition to my clinical practice, I have served in a Lead Physician Assistant role, providing clinical leadership, mentoring fellow advanced practice providers, and supporting departmental operations while maintaining a high standard of patient care. As a medical-legal consultant and expert witness, I provide objective, independent reviews of emergency medicine care and physician assistant practice. My areas of expertise include emergency department evaluation and management, clinical decision-making, patient assessment, triage, diagnosis, treatment, documentation, disposition, and adherence to physician assistant standards of practice. My opinions are grounded in evidence-based medicine, current clinical guidelines, accepted standards of care, my extensive clinical experience, and a comprehensive review of the medical record. To date, I have been retained in eight medical-legal cases and have provided deposition testimony in three matters. I am committed to delivering impartial, well-reasoned, and thoroughly supported opinions that assist attorneys and the courts in evaluating the clinical issues central to each case. I maintain an active Texas Physician Assistant license and current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). I also maintain current certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) and remain committed to continuing medical education and the highest standards of clinical practice.
