With over seven years of active clinical practice as a board-certified general surgeon specializing in bariatric (weight loss) and anti-reflux/foregut surgery, I offer thoughtful analysis, targeted surgical knowledge, and an ability to “bridge the gap” between medical practice and real-world legal analysis. My background and qualifications include: ● Active licensure to practice medicine in the state of Virginia, with ability to perform minimally invasive surgery and robotic techniques ● Thorough training pedigree, with a post-residency fellowship focused on minimally invasive surgery, bariatrics, and foregut work ● A verified MBSAQIP bariatric surgeon and fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons ● Exposure to quality improvement processes and dissection of challenging cases as chair of my institution’s peer review committee ● Leadership in my field as medical director of UVA Community Health’s bariatric program and ongoing creation of its comprehensive reflux center My goal is to provide a high quality, objective assessment, allowing a translation from the surgery world to the medical malpractice and medicolegal world, with the utmost of care and ethics.
