Dr. Attila G. Kett is a board-certified anesthesiologist with more than 25 years of experience in clinical anesthesiology, obstetric anesthesia, perioperative medicine, research, education, and physician leadership. He has served as Chairman of the Departments of Anesthesiology at Northern Westchester Hospital (Northwell Health), Saint Peter's University Hospital, and Palisades Medical Center while maintaining an active clinical practice. Dr. Kett's opinions are informed by the combined perspective of an actively practicing anesthesiologist and experienced physician leader. Beyond direct patient care, he has extensive experience in physician credentialing and privileging, peer review, FPPE/OPPE, CRNA supervision, operating room management, quality improvement, patient safety, and departmental governance. His experience uniquely combines active clinical practice with decades of leadership in physician supervision, credentialing, quality oversight, and hospital operations, allowing him to evaluate both individual clinical decisions and the healthcare systems in which they occur. He understands the important distinctions between professional society guidelines, hospital policies, and the legal standard of care. Dr. Kett maintains an active clinical practice encompassing the full spectrum of anesthesiology, with particular expertise in obstetric anesthesia and perioperative medicine. His experience includes labor epidural analgesia, cesarean anesthesia, neuraxial and regional anesthesia, difficult airway management, post-dural puncture headache (PDPH), postpartum hemorrhage, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy including preeclampsia and eclampsia, procedural and conscious sedation, postoperative respiratory depression, and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) and Enhanced Recovery After Cesarean (ERAC). He has cared for thousands of surgical and obstetric patients in both academic and community hospitals. As Regional Director of Obstetric Anesthesia, Dr. Kett has led initiatives to standardize obstetric anesthesia practice, improve maternal safety, and implement evidence-based perioperative care pathways across multiple hospitals. He has also served as a Medical Board Member, Credentialing Committee Member, Director of Clinical Research, and Managing Partner of a large private anesthesia practice. Dr. Kett completed his anesthesiology residency at New York University School of Medicine following a postdoctoral fellowship in obstetric anesthesia research at Cornell University School of Medicine and Case Western Reserve University. He earned an Executive MBA from the University of Tennessee, is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, is a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (FASA), and is licensed in New York and New Jersey. An investigator, educator, and national speaker, Dr. Kett has authored peer-reviewed publications, served as principal investigator and co-investigator on multicenter clinical trials, and lectures nationally and internationally on obstetric anesthesia, perioperative medicine, enhanced recovery, patient safety, and healthcare quality.
