Dr. Amy Hildreth is a board-certified general surgeon and surgical critical care specialist with over 15 years of active Level I trauma center practice. She accepts defense referrals exclusively. CURRENT POSITION: Chair of Surgery, Prisma Health Medical Group–Midlands; Clinical Professor of Surgery, University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Columbia, SC. BOARD CERTIFICATIONS: Diplomate, American Board of Surgery (Cert. No. 53998, 2008–present). Diplomate, American Board of Surgery — Added Qualification in Surgical Critical Care (Cert. No. 2478, 2008–present). NATIONAL CREDENTIALS: Dr. Hildreth recently served as a Council Member of the American Board of Surgery and chaired its Diplomates and Surgeons in Practice Committee. She is also a member of the ABS Trauma, Burns and Surgical Critical Care Board and chaired the Resident Education Committee of the American College of Surgeons. She has direct expertise in the national standards by which surgeons are evaluated and credentialed. CLINICAL EXPERTISE: Dr. Hildreth's practice encompasses the full spectrum of trauma and acute care surgery, including blunt and penetrating trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care. STANDARD OF CARE: As a long-serving Residency Program Director (Wake Forest, 2010–2023) and current Chair of Surgery at Prisma Health- Midlands, Dr. Hildreth has evaluated surgical performance against established national standards for over a decade, making her uniquely qualified to opine on both attending and resident-level surgical decision-making and technical performance. PUBLICATIONS: 45 peer-reviewed articles; book chapters in Acute Care Surgery (Lippincott, 2012) and The Trauma Manual, 4th and 5th Editions (Lippincott/Wolters Kluwer).
