CLINICAL PRACTICE & STANDARD OF CARE Dr. Janet Leidy is a licensed acupuncturist, Chinese herbal medicine practitioner, health professions educator, and academic dean with more than 28 years of hands-on clinical experience in therapeutic bodywork and integrative patient care. Her acupuncture clinical experience began with supervised patient care in 2008. She has owned and operated Acupuncture for Life, LLC since 2009, providing acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine care. Her areas of expertise include acupuncture standard of care, scope of practice, patient safety, informed consent, clinical documentation, practitioner competency, adverse events, failure to refer, and clinical education and supervision. Her clinical practice includes acupuncture, dry needling, manual trigger point therapy, therapeutic bodywork, and integrative treatment modalities. Her extensive experience using both manual and needle-based approaches to trigger point therapy provides a multidisciplinary clinical perspective on practitioner training, competency, and patient safety. Dr. Leidy is available to consult on matters involving acupuncture and dry needling, including practitioner education and training, competency assessment, scope of practice, informed consent, patient safety, and adverse events associated with invasive needling procedures. Her Chinese herbal medicine expertise includes best practice standards, patient safety, clinical decision-making, and herb-drug interactions. HEALTH PROFESSIONS EDUCATION & CLINICAL TRAINING Dr. Leidy serves as Academic Dean and Chief Academic Officer of the Won Institute of Graduate Studies. Since joining the institution in 2011, she has served in academic leadership roles including Program Director, Department Chair, and Associate Professor. She has extensive experience developing and assessing graduate and doctoral-level health professions curricula, establishing clinical and academic competencies, evaluating outcomes, overseeing faculty, and addressing clinical education and professional practice. Dr. Leidy designed and authored the Doctor of Acupuncture program in 2020, including curriculum development, competency alignment, regulatory review, and accreditation approval processes. Her experience provides a foundation for evaluating the distinction between continuing education and formal professional education involving competency assessment and supervised clinical training. MASSAGE THERAPY & BODYWORK EDUCATION Dr. Leidy has practiced therapeutic massage and bodywork since 1998. She founded, developed, owned, and operated the National Academy of Massage Therapy & Healing Sciences from 2002 to 2010. She designed curriculum, taught in the program, managed faculty, and oversaw regulatory compliance and school operations before successfully selling the institution. Her background in massage therapy education and acupuncture provides a multidisciplinary perspective on practitioner training, scope of practice, clinical competency, and needling techniques used by professionals from differing educational backgrounds. ACCREDITATION & INSTITUTIONAL COMPLIANCE Dr. Leidy has led institutional and programmatic accreditation activities involving ACAHM and MSCHE.
