Mr. Slawson leads the BWE Civil Engineering and Land Surveying Departments. He is licensed in California and Arizona as a professional civil engineer. He brings over 30 years of diverse experience, having owned his own firm and served as a Principal, Vice President or Project Manager for several civil engineering firms. His management experience encompasses firms ranging in size from an 8(a) design-build federal contractor to an ENR top 100 firm. He has successfully managed over $2.5 billion in projects for his clients which include the County of San Diego, the City of San Diego, the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest, and dozens of private industry clients. He is proficient in articulating complex topics in an understandable manner, whether it be to clients, in courtroom testimony, depositions, or settlement negotiations. His experience provides the ability to properly evaluate and report on issues that arise in regulatory disputes, building code matters, and the application of acceptable engineering principles to issues of dispute. Mr. Slawson prioritizes remaining abreast of innovations in materials and methods, and possesses strong analytical and risk assessment skills. His extensive project experience includes residential land development, various local public works, water supply and distribution, hydrology, water quality, transportation, Caltrans permitting, easement and right-of-way acquisition, public improvements, survey and construction support, hazardous waste remediation, and environmental compliance. He is also a licensed land surveyor in California.
