Police Practices and Use of Force Expert with more than 17 years of law enforcement experience, currently serving as a Major Crimes Sergeant with a DFW area Police Department. My experience includes patrol, criminal investigations, homicide, officer-involved shootings, public integrity investigations, special victims investigations, supervision, and crisis/hostage negotiations. I have served as both the lead investigator and a member of the investigative team in multiple officer-involved shooting investigations. My work includes use of force analysis, body-worn camera review, investigative sufficiency evaluations, officer decision-making, and application of generally accepted police practices. I am Force Science trained in human performance, perception, memory, action-reaction, and decision-making under stress. My consulting practice focuses on police practices, use of force, officer-involved shootings, body-worn camera analysis, investigative sufficiency, supervisory review, and critical incident reconstruction. I provide case review, expert reports, depositions, and trial testimony in federal and state litigation. My experience includes investigative review of homicide, robbery, sexual assault, child abuse, domestic violence, and public integrity investigations, along with supervisory review of major criminal investigations and use of force incidents. I have been disclosed as a "State's Expert" on several criminal trials and have been retained as a police practices expert for a federal civil rights action involving probable cause, investigative practices, and police decision-making.
