Practiced general/advanced gastroenterology, endoscopy, and hepatology, capsule endoscopy, esophageal and anorectal motility, EUS, ERCP, HALO, luminal/pancreaticobiliary/LAMS stent placement, for twenty years. Also sub-/principal investigator of clinical research studies of inflammatory bowel disease, Cologuard screening, hepatic encephalopathy, eosinophilic esophagitis, and celiac sprue. Retired as Emeritus Honor Staff at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital. Serving as gastroenterology/hepatology subject matter expert and physician lead and point of communications in support of research sites contracted by Iterative Health, for education of investigators and clinical research specialists regarding clinical trials in inflammatory bowel disease, hepatological disease, and other gastrointestinal disorders. Specific duties include vetting research protocols and appropriateness to various research sites, engagement of key opinion leaders in gastroenterology, pharmaceutical sponsor stakeholders within clinical development, medical affairs, regulatory, health economics outcomes research, and digital health. Served as indication lead for medical affairs, immunology business unit of Eli Lilly and Company, overseeing strategy of launch of mirikizumab in ulcerative colitis and associated medical education, clinical/basic-science research disclosures, phase 3b/4 real-world evidence and clinical trials, thought-leader engagement, medical science liaison education and leadership, IBD and gastroenterology pipeline consultation including within IBD, obesity, and other GI immunology-related areas. Consulting on early/late-phase asset trial protocol development, due diligence of business development opportunities with additional gastroenterology pharmacological assets. Supervised mirikizumab long-term extension trial in Crohn’s disease as clinical research physician and led cross-functional efforts to optimize research site engagement and alignment. Collaborated with multiple units in leading health-equity, digital-health/artificial intelligence, value/evidence/outcomes research in gastroenterology and hepatology. In both development and medical affairs, consulted on mirikizumab, MORF-057, tirzepatide, perisolimab, and Organovo FXR-314 roles, along with competitive intelligence of other assets, in IBD, obesity, and other gastroenterological applications.
