With 19 years of experience, I have been providing expertise across a broad spectrum of activities involving meteorology, climatology and the environment. Since 2006, I have provided expert analysis and testimony for more than two dozen law firms as well as international insurance companies on the impact of weather for their weather related legal and insurance claims. My forensic meteorological services include weather data analysis and interpretation, weather event reconstruction, site surveys, written forensic reports, expert testimony and cross examination advice. I have been retained in cases in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Missouri as well as international locations. I have been qualified in county and state superior and supreme courts as well as US District Courts. Cases in which I have been involved include: slip and fall accidents due to snow and ice accumulation, property damage due to high winds, tornadoes, hail, personal injury due to lightning, long term wind studies, and Wet Bulb Globe Temperature data research. For all these cases, I acquired, analyzed and interpreted the weather data, reconstructed the weather at the time and location of the incident and provided expert opinion of the impact of the weather factor on the event. My services have been performed for both plaintiffs and defendants at approximately a 50:50 ratio. (45% plaintiff, 55% defense) I have peer reviewed emergency action plans for severe weather for the Governor’s Ball music festival in New York City, the NYC Marathon and Tunnel to Towers annual race. I have also presented at professional meteorological conferences and public speaking engagements where I included new research on how climate change has impacted severe weather events. Recent research includes climate change risk assessment for various locations in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Texas, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Greece, Croatia, Slovakia, Norway, Iceland, Austria, Spain, Hungary, Singapore, South Africa, India and Taiwan. Invitations for weather and climate speaking engagements have been fulfilled at NASA Goddard’s Spaceflight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland; Lercari Insurance Group in Milan, Italy; the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium; City Hall Climate Talks in Paris, France; Klimazeit show on Tagesschau24 news in Germany, the United Nations Forum on Climate Change in Taipei, Taiwan, Sky News Arabia in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and national television news in Ghana. Additional professional experience includes: Adjunct Professor of Meteorology, Kean University, NJ, 2020-present Board of Directors: International Association of Broadcast Meteorologists (IABM). Seat at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) World Congress, Geneva, Switzerland. Chief meteorologist of the NYC Marathon, annually since 2010. Broadcast meteorologist at News 12 Television Networks, 2007-2023. Founding member of Climate without Borders organization.
