Erik Patrick Dutson, MD, FACS Board-Certified General Surgeon | Former Chief of Surgery, Huggins Hospital | Former Executive Director, UCLA CASIT | Former Chief, Section of Minimally Invasive & Bariatric Surgery, UCLA Dr. Erik Dutson is a highly experienced board-certified general surgeon (ABS, recertified through 2025) with over 25 years of active clinical practice, including extensive expertise in minimally invasive, robotic, and bariatric surgery. He has served in major leadership roles, including Chief of Surgery at Huggins Hospital, Executive Director of the UCLA Center for Advanced Surgical and Interventional Technology (CASIT), and Chief of UCLA’s Section of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Dutson has performed thousands of complex laparoscopic and robotic procedures, directed fellowship training programs, and maintained outstanding clinical outcomes. His academic background includes a Clinical Professorship at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, an h-index of 41, 124+ peer-reviewed publications, multiple NIH/DoD/NSF grants, and patents in surgical haptics and robotics. He has trained numerous fellows, residents, and surgeons internationally and served on national committees (SAGES, NIH Study Sections).
