David L. Smoger, MD, MA, DABR is a board-certified Interventional and Diagnostic Radiologist with more than 17 years of clinical experience and over a decade of medical-legal consulting experience. Dr. Smoger currently serves as Chairman of Radiology at Redeemer Health / Holy Redeemer Hospital and Medical Center and remains in active full-time clinical practice specializing in vascular and interventional radiology. He is also Section Chief of Interventional Radiology at Radiology Affiliates Imaging and Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Smoger’s clinical expertise includes complex interventional radiology procedures involving thromboembolic disease, arterial disease, interventional oncology, pulmonary embolism intervention, DVT intervention, prostate artery embolization, embolization procedures, percutaneous biopsies, drainage procedures, pain management procedures, and complex IVC filter retrieval. He is recognized for managing complex minimally invasive image-guided procedures and advanced vascular interventions. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Smoger has served as a medical expert and medico-legal consultant since 2014, handling approximately 25–30 expert witness cases annually with experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants. He has provided deposition testimony approximately 35 times and trial testimony approximately 7 times. His expert witness work includes review and consultation involving diagnostic radiology, vascular and interventional radiology procedures, standards of care, causation, procedural complications, and imaging interpretation. Dr. Smoger is licensed in multiple states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Florida, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, and North Carolina. He holds board certifications in Diagnostic Radiology, Vascular & Interventional Radiology, and Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology. He is an active member of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and American College of Radiology (ACR). His academic and research background includes peer-reviewed publications, invited lectures, and a patented subcutaneous dialysis catheter with ultrasound agitation technology.
