Gina Farmer is a Jewelry Valuation, Appraisal Review, and Expert Witness specialist with expertise in disputed jewelry valuations, appraisal methodology, insurance claims, estate and probate matters, divorce proceedings, authenticity issues, and related litigation. She provides independent analysis and expert opinions concerning the valuation, identification, authenticity, and appraisal of fine jewelry, diamonds, colored gemstones, watches, and other luxury assets. As Founder and Owner of Gem Facets Jewelry Appraisal, Ms. Farmer performs valuation assignments for insurance replacement, fair market value, estate tax, probate, charitable contribution, equitable distribution, liquidation, and other purposes. She works with attorneys, fiduciaries, trustees, accountants, insurers, and private clients to develop well-supported opinions of value based on recognized appraisal principles, market research, and industry standards. Some of Ms. Farmer’s work involves appraisal review and critique. She evaluates appraisal reports prepared by other professionals to determine whether valuation conclusions are supported by appropriate methodology, market evidence, gemological analysis, and accepted appraisal practices. Her review assignments involve disputes concerning overvaluation, undervaluation, unsupported assumptions, inadequate documentation, marketability issues, and the distinction between replacement value and other standards of value. Ms. Farmer earned the Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) credential from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the Registered Gemologist Appraiser designation from USGS. Her training includes the identification, grading, and valuation of natural diamonds, laboratory-grown diamonds, colored gemstones, pearls, synthetic materials, and simulants. She utilizes advanced gemological testing methods and instrumentation to evaluate authenticity, quality, condition, and value. In addition to her appraisal and gemological credentials, Ms. Farmer brings extensive business and legal experience to her consulting and expert witness practice. She is a serial entrepreneur who has founded, operated, and successfully exited multiple businesses. She has served as an expert consultant through national consulting networks and has advised clients on jewelry industry practices, valuation issues, gemstone identification, market trends, and authenticity matters. Ms. Farmer has completed two years of JD legal studies at Mitchell Hamline School of Law and completed her Master of Legal Studies through Washington University School of Law in May 2026. Her legal education provides additional insight into litigation strategy, evidentiary standards, expert witness responsibilities, and the effective communication of complex valuation and technical issues to attorneys, judges, juries, and other decision-makers. Her combination of appraisal expertise, gemological training, business experience, and legal education allows her to provide objective, independent, and well-supported opinions in matters involving jewelry valuation disputes and appraisal-related controversies.
