Additional Information

Board-certified histotechnologist with over a decade of experience across major academic medical centers, including the Cleveland Clinic, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Children's Wisconsin, University of Washington Medical Center, and Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital. Holds advanced ASCP certifications in histotechnology (HTL(ASCP)CM), immunohistochemistry (QIHC(ASCP)CM), and laboratory safety (QLS(ASCP)CM). Clinical expertise spans all tissue types and encompasses the full spectrum of histologic techniques including routine tissue processing and embedding, microtomy, special stains, immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence, in situ hybridization (ISH), and enzyme histochemistry. Subspecialty expertise in neuromuscular pathology, including skeletal muscle and peripheral nerve evaluation using advanced enzyme histochemical and immunofluorescent techniques — a highly specialized area with few credentialed experts nationally. Direct experience with medicolegal matters involving histopathology laboratories. At the Cleveland Clinic, participated in a quality assurance investigation of a specimen accountability case involving lost surgical pathology material with direct impact on patient oncologic management and treatment decisions. This experience provided firsthand knowledge of specimen chain of custody protocols, laboratory intake procedures, gross dissection accountability, and the standard of care expected at major academic institutions. Additional areas of expertise relevant to litigation include: specimen misidentification, tissue processing errors, lost specimens, IHC protocol validation and misapplication, legal review of archived tissue and slides, laboratory safety violations, standard of care in histology practice, competency assessment and training standards, and inter-laboratory quality benchmarking across multiple institution types. Extensive teaching and training background includes histotechnology instruction at the university level, neuromuscular histology lecturing for accredited histotechnology programs, and training and competency assessment of successor laboratory personnel at academic medical centers. Holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from Cornell University. Available for case review, written opinions, deposition, and trial testimony.
