Dr. Dhruv Bansal, MD, MBA is a board-certified medical oncologist specializing in thoracic oncology, skin malignancies, immunotherapy, and clinical trial development. He currently serves in multiple leadership roles at Endeavor Health/NorthShore in the Chicago area, including Program Director for Immunotherapy, Lead of the Molecular Tumor Board, and Academic Lead for Thoracic Medical Oncology. He also serves as a member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and has led system-wide oncology clinical trial integration initiatives across a large health network. Dr. Bansal has extensive expertise in lung cancer, melanoma, immunotherapy-related toxicities, molecular oncology, clinical trial operations, and emerging cancer therapeutics. His clinical and academic focus includes non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), biomarker-driven oncology, immune checkpoint inhibitors, targeted therapies, molecular diagnostics, ctDNA-guided treatment strategies, and precision oncology workflows. He has significant experience evaluating standards of care, treatment sequencing, adverse events, imaging interpretation in oncology trials, and complex multidisciplinary cancer management. Dr. Bansal completed fellowship training in Hematology and Oncology at Washington University in St. Louis after prior fellowship training at Loma Linda University. He also earned an MBA from Washington University and completed residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of New Mexico. He has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading oncology journals, including JAMA Network Open, Journal of Thoracic Oncology, Clinical Lung Cancer, Cancers, JCO Precision Oncology, and Frontiers in Oncology. His scholarly work has focused heavily on immunotherapy outcomes, thoracic malignancies, biomarker development, ctDNA applications, immune-related adverse events, and oncology clinical trial methodology. He has also contributed to major oncology textbooks including The Washington Manual of Oncology and DeVita Principles and Practice of Oncology Review. In addition to his academic work, Dr. Bansal has substantial experience as a principal investigator and site investigator on industry-sponsored and cooperative-group oncology clinical trials. He designed the CABIOS clinical trial at Washington University and has served as principal investigator or site lead for numerous national and international thoracic oncology studies involving immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and precision oncology approaches. Dr. Bansal has delivered invited lectures and presentations nationally and internationally on topics including immunotherapy toxicities, thoracic oncology, precision medicine, bispecific T-cell engager therapies, and molecular oncology. He has presented at ASCO, IASLC, SITC, ESMO, and other major oncology conferences and has participated in educational media, expert commentary, and national oncology panels.
