25Additional Information
I am a board-certified cardiologist with 25 years of post-training clinical experience and subspecialty expertise in pulmonary hypertension, right heart failure, advanced heart failure, heart transplantation, cardiogenic shock, and advanced echocardiography. I am the founder and Director of the Regional Pulmonary Hypertension Program at Kaiser Permanente Northern California, established in 2015, which operates a hub-and-spoke model providing comprehensive PH care across San Francisco, Roseville, and Sacramento. I am a recognized national thought leader in pulmonary vascular disease, with clinical and academic expertise spanning all five WHO classification groups of pulmonary hypertension. I have contributed to international consensus guidelines on both the perioperative management of patients with pulmonary hypertension and on pulmonary hypertension due to left heart disease (WHO Group 2). My clinical training includes a cardiology fellowship at Mayo Clinic Arizona and an Advanced Echocardiography fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. I have particular expertise in the interpretation of transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiography, with focused attention on right ventricular size and function, estimation of pulmonary artery pressures, valvular heart disease, hemodynamic assessment, and the echocardiographic evaluation of patients with known or suspected pulmonary vascular disease. My additional areas of expertise include the diagnosis, classification, and management of all forms of pulmonary hypertension, including pulmonary arterial hypertension (Group 1), PH due to left heart disease (Group 2), PH due to lung disease and hypoxia (Group 3), chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (Group 4), and PH with unclear or multifactorial mechanisms (Group 5); perioperative risk stratification and management of patients with PH undergoing surgery; parenteral prostacyclin therapy and other advanced PH-specific therapies; hemodynamic interpretation of right heart catheterization data; the evaluation and management of HFpEF and HFrEF with associated PH; and multidisciplinary care pathway design for pulmonary vascular programs. I am board certified in Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine and I am a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. I am licensed to practice medicine in California and remain in active clinical practice. I am available for case review, expert opinion reports, depositions, and trial testimony in matters involving cardiology, echocardiography, pulmonary hypertension across all WHO classification groups, right heart failure, perioperative cardiovascular risk, advanced heart failure, heart transplantation, cardiogenic shock, and the evaluation and management of heart failure with preserved or reduced ejection fraction.
