Award-winning neonatologist (newborn intensive care physician) in active clinical practice. Columbia and UCLA educated. Licensed in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Treated what were (1994) the smallest surviving premature twins ever as attending physician. First use of NO (nitric oxide) for pulmonary hypertension (1995) and therapeutic hypothermia for neonatal brain injury (2008) in a community neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in Pennsylvania. Extensive NICU administrative experience including quality assurance and root cause analysis of newborn morbidity and mortality. Patented inventor. 35+ years experience specializing in therapeutic hypothermia (HIE cooling protocols), Neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), Neonatal hyperthermia and hypothermia, NICU temperature management, failure to initiate cooling protocol, issues related to perinatal informed consent, neonatal respiratory distress, delayed recognition of neonatal distress, criteria for transport and performance of neonatal transport, chorioamnionitis as it effects the newborn.
