I am Dr. Mona L. Camacci, MD, MSc, a Board-Certified ophthalmologist specializing in clinical trials, with extensive expertise in retinal diseases, macular conditions, and vitreous diseases. I practice in Hilton Head Island, Bluffton, and Beaufort, South Carolina, collaborating with Retina Consultants of Charleston. I graduated from Franklin & Marshall College, earning dual majors in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Health and Human Rights. As a George J. Mitchell scholar, I earned an MS in Equality Studies from University College Dublin. I completed my medical training at Penn State College of Medicine as a Paul and Daisy Soros fellow, followed by an Ophthalmology residency at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the University of Rochester. My clinical expertise focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and surgical management of retinal diseases such as diabetic eye disease, age-related macular degeneration, macular holes, retinal detachments, and retinal artery and vein occlusions. I am also highly involved in clinical trials focused on retinal diseases and am dedicated to advancing research in this area.
