0Additional Information
I completed medical school at the George Washington University, residency training in general surgery at New York Medical College and Fellowship training in both trauma surgery and surgical critical care at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I joined the staff at Sinai Hospital in 2014 and currently hold the positions of Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery, Division Chief for Acute Care Surgery, Program Director for the general surgery residency and Associate Designated Institutional Official, overseeing all graduate medical education programs. In these roles I have been instrumental in shaping the training program for our future surgeons as well as overseeing all the operations for trauma surgery, surgical critical care and emergency general surgery. I have also completed a Masters in Education, as well as a Professional Coaching Certification. I have received several teaching awards, including the Parker J Palmer Courage to Teach award from the ACGME. In addition, several years ago I was inducted into the Society of Master Surgeon Educators. I excel as an educator and have a special knack for making difficult medical concepts understandable to non-medical individuals. I have done medical malpractice work in the past with chart reviews, depositions and even went to trial once (we won that case). I look forward to being able to help translate complex medical care into layman's terms.
