Donald C. Sachs, MD is a board-certified neurosurgeon and spine surgery expert with nearly 30 years of clinical experience and involvement in the care of over 250,000 neurosurgical patients. He is fellowship trained in complex spinal deformity and reconstruction and is double boarded, holding certification through the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Sachs completed his medical education, internship, residency in neurological surgery, and fellowship training at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. His advanced training includes complex spinal deformity, spinal reconstruction, minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal biomechanics, sacroiliac joint pathology, vertebral augmentation, and spinal instrumentation. He currently serves as the founder and practicing neurosurgeon at the Center for Spinal Stenosis and Neurologic Care, where he has been in continuous clinical practice since 2010. Earlier in his career, Dr. Sachs practiced at Lakeland Regional Medical Center and served as Chief Resident in Neurological Surgery at a 900-bed Level I trauma center, managing high-volume, complex neurosurgical cases and authoring institutional protocols. Dr. Sachs has extensive experience in spine-related litigation matters, including but not limited to: Standard of care analysis Causation and injury mechanism Surgical decision-making and technique Spinal instrumentation and biomechanical devices Minimally invasive vs. open spine procedures Sacroiliac joint pathology and fusion Postoperative complications and outcomes He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has presented nationally at organizations including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), North American Spine Society (NASS), and specialty spine and sacroiliac joint societies. His research includes long-term outcomes in minimally invasive spine surgery, sacroiliac joint fusion techniques, spinal biomechanics, and spinal cord injury. In addition to his clinical and academic work, Dr. Sachs frequently presents to attorneys, claims adjusters, and healthcare professionals on spine-related topics, making him particularly effective at translating complex neurosurgical concepts into clear, defensible opinions for deposition and trial. Dr. Sachs offers independent medical record review, expert reports, deposition testimony, and trial testimony for both plaintiff and defense matters.
