Dr. Benjamin Kummer is a board-certified neurologist with fellowship training in vascular neurology and clinical informatics. He has more than a decade of experience in acute and outpatient neurological care and serves as Director for Clinical Informatics in Neurology at the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City. Dr. Kummer’s clinical work spans the full spectrum of cerebrovascular disease, including ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, TIA, reperfusion therapy decision-making, post-stroke complications, and neurological disability assessment. He has treated and evaluated thousands of stroke and general neurology patients across high-volume academic hospitals, neuro-ICUs, and emergency departments. A recognized leader in clinical informatics, Dr. Kummer oversees enterprise-level neurology data strategy, EHR integration, HL7/FHIR workflows, clinical decision support, digital health implementation, and quality/safety initiatives. He serves as the data steward for EEG, neurodiagnostic, and neurophysiology datasets across the Mount Sinai system and has deep experience with Natus NeuroWorks, EEG review standards, and neurodiagnostic interoperability. Dr. Kummer’s technical expertise includes asynchronous (interprofessional consultation, remote patient monitoring), synchronous (video) teleneurology applications, medical data pipelines and information processes, documentation standards, clinical workflow evaluation, algorithm validation, and AI/ML governance. He has et experience in developing digital biomarkers, neuroimaging AI algorithms, as well as assessing algorithm performance, clinical risk mitigation, and regulatory/operational strategy. His research focuses on stroke outcomes, predictive modeling, and digital biomarkers. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and abstracts, regularly presenting at national meetings such as the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), American Heart Association (AHA), and digital health conferences.
