Board-Certified Vascular Surgeon with more than three decades of clinical, academic, and leadership experience, providing evidence-based medico-legal opinions in vascular surgery malpractice, limb salvage, wound care, venous thromboembolism, dialysis access, and procedure-related complications. Independent, objective opinions for plaintiffs and defendants on standard of care, causation, and damages. Training & Academic Background. Earned a BSE in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University (Magna Cum Laude, 1980) and an MD from Cornell University Medical College. Completed General Surgery residency and Vascular Surgery fellowship training at UCLA (including dedicated research experience) and subsequently served as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, teaching medical students and surgical residents. Clinical Career. Practiced with Vascular Surgical Associates in Marietta, Georgia (1995–June 2025), contributing to clinical program development including an outpatient-based endovascular lab and prosthetics services. Currently provides clinical consultation in hyperbaric oxygen therapy and comprehensive wound care at Hyperbaric Physicians of Georgia. Professional experience also includes peer review, quality and safety initiatives, clinical program development, and physician education (resident teaching and Grand Rounds). Licensed in Georgia and California; based in the Marietta/Atlanta area. Areas of Medico-Legal Expertise: • Peripheral arterial disease & limb ischemia: diagnostic evaluation and triage (including delay in diagnosis and treatment considerations), vascular imaging/ultrasound, procedural options, post-procedure management, limb-salvage decision-making, amputation considerations • Venous disease & thromboembolism: DVT evaluation/management (including failure to diagnose/treat considerations), venous insufficiency, ulceration, anticoagulation-related considerations • Wound care: lower extremity ulcers, diabetic/ischemic wounds, multidisciplinary care pathways (including failure to heal/escalation of care considerations) • Dialysis access & central venous access: creation/maintenance, complications, infection, thrombosis considerations • Procedure-related complications & standard-of-care analysis: documentation, intra- and postoperative monitoring, complication recognition, escalation of care, and preventable adverse event analysis Leadership & Professional Service. Serves on the Advisory Board of the Institute of Health Administration at Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business and has served as President of the Georgia Vascular Society and the Georgia Vascular Foundation. Previously held hospital leadership roles as Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery at Wellstar Cobb Hospital. Communicates complex vascular anatomy, diagnostic pathways, treatment options, and complications in clear language for attorneys, courts, and juries, and distinguishes established facts from reasonable medical probabilities.
