Dr. Maarij Baig, DO, MS is double board-certified in Critical Care Medicine (2023) and Internal Medicine (2021) by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He currently serves as an Intensivist and ICU Assistant Medical Director at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, Maryland, where he manages critically ill patients in the medical and surgical ICU, leads multidisciplinary teams, performs advanced procedures, and provides medical and administrative oversight to maintain the highest standards of care. Dr. Baig earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Mary Washington. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, New Jersey, where he also served as Chief Medicine Resident, and went on to complete fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. His clinical expertise includes airway management, bronchoscopy, ventilation management, procedural sedation, and invasive procedures such as endotracheal intubation, lumbar puncture, central and arterial line placement, midline catheter placement, and chest tube insertion. He has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications in CHEST, Critical Care Medicine, and Case Reports in Gastrointestinal Medicine. He has also presented nationally at the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American College of Chest Physicians, where he is an active member.
