Additional Information

I am an internal medicine physician presently based out of Southern California that specializes in the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. I started my attending career as a clinical hospitalist at UCSF Medical Center, where I also served as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine with the adjoining School of Medicine. My duties included resident and medical student education which I sought out voluntarily. Since my career began, at least 50% of my schedule has been composed of nocturnal medicine coverage. Since my career transitioned to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena CA, I took more a direct care hospitalist role (not directly affiliated with their internal medicine residency). At this larger community medical center, my clinical responsibilities initially included swing shift and night shift triage and admission of patients from the emergency department. At present, 100% of my schedule is now as a rounding direct care hospitalist physician, taking care of a panel of up to 15-20 of my own patients in addition to supervising nurse practitioners working with my medical group. At this point and time in my career, I have contacted thousands of patients and had to scrutinize my own workflows tirelessly to ensure patient's on my service receive care care goal-directed, evidence-based, efficient, and timely manner. In recognition of my style of practice and documentation, I was hand picked as a physician advisor to Utilization Management by the Vice President of Quality Improvement and Clinical Operations at my current institution. In this role, I work with nursing staff and other like-minded physicians of varying specialities to help improve resource utilization in the inpatient setting as it pertains to both physician documentation and patient placement (ie observation or inpatient). Since I graduated from residency, I attained Fellowship with the American College of Physicians (FACP). The American College Physicians is the largest existing representative body of internal medicine physicians in the USA. Fellows are those physicians that have clearly exhibited excellence within the field.
