Dr. Baker earned his medical degree from Loyola University Medical Center, Stritch School of Medicine, in 2007, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Following medical school, he completed a General Surgery residency at Loyola University McGaw Medical Center, which included a two-year research fellowship at the Loyola Burn & Shock Trauma Research Institute. During this time, he also earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Research Methods and Epidemiology. In 2014, Dr. Baker completed a second residency in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the esteemed Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. While at Cleveland Clinic, he directed resident and fellow participation in the groundbreaking 2017 face transplantation and other complex multidisciplinary reconstructive surgeries. Dr. Baker has been a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society since 2006 and is a current recipient of the Castle Connolly Top Doctor award, having earned this distinction for three consecutive years since 2022. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery (2014 - present) and the American Board of Plastic Surgery (2018 - present). Dr. Baker has authored more than 16 peer-reviewed publications in surgery. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Baker has served in local and national leadership positions, addressing safety, quality, and case review across multiple capacities. His leadership roles have allowed him to shape policies and initiatives aimed at improving patient care and surgical outcomes.
