Dr. Nigel Kennedy is an ABPN board-certified psychiatrist and PhD neuroscientist with extensive experience in forensic psychiatry, medical-legal evaluations, and expert testimony. He is licensed in both California and New York and available for independent medical examinations (IMEs) across both states, including travel to underserved regions. Dr. Kennedy has been recognized as an expert in psychiatry by mental health courts in New York City and Rockland County, and has provided testimony on behalf of Mount Sinai Hospital and Rockland Psychiatric Center, a state inpatient facility of the NY Office of Mental Health (OMH). He has conducted psychiatric evaluations in civil, criminal, and disability contexts, and is equipped to handle high-volume IME referrals with a commitment to timely, objective, and evidence-based reporting. Prior to specializing in psychiatry, Dr. Kennedy trained extensively in emergency medicine and neurosurgery, gaining clinical experience in acute trauma and traumatic brain injury. He previously served as Unit Chief of the Geriatric Psychiatry Unit at Mount Sinai Hospital, where he also taught medical students and residents. Dr. Kennedy currently holds an academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
