Dr. McCarthy is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and sub-specialty board certified in Brain Injury Medicine. Dr. McCarthy received acupuncture training at the Helms Medical Center and is a certified Battlefield acupuncture instructor. She treats the elite special forces from the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) and Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT). Dr. McCarthy is Program Director for the University of South Florida Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Training program. She holds an academic appointment at the University of South Florida in the department of Neurology as an Associate Professor. Dr. Marissa McCarthy has served as medical director at the James A. Haley VA Polytrauma Traumatic Brain Injury inpatient unit, the Polytrauma Transitional Rehabilitation Program, and Vocational Rehab. Dr. McCarthy earned her medical doctorate at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College and residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston Texas. She is an invited exam question writer and oral board examiner for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is an invited lecturer and has participated in national and international presentations and research seminars. Dr. McCarthy is a speaker and faculty instructor for multiple companies including Allergan Neurosciences, Ipsen Biopharmaceutical, and Merz Pharma. Dr. McCarthy is medical director for SOF Missions Resiliency Project, a 501c3 non-profit to combat veteran suicide. Dr. McCarthy is the founder of Raeven Health LLC, a concierge medical platform geared toward brain fitness and preserving cognitive health. Dr. McCarthy has multiple publications including research related to traumatic brain injury, sleep, disorders of consciousness, and outcomes. She has written book chapters for major physical medicine and rehabilitation texts. She is currently authoring a book about resiliency and brain health.
