I am a practicing emergency physician with 27 years of clinical experience, including over 17 years of emergency department medical director experience. I am currently a full-time emergency physician at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida, Colorado. I am licensed as a physician to practice medicine in Colorado, North Carolina, and Georgia. I graduated magna cum laude from Berry College in 1988 with a bachelor’s of science degree in biology and chemistry. I attended the Medical College of Georgia, graduating with a doctorate in medicine in 1993. I completed a three-year residency in family medicine at The Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia, in 1996, and a one-year fellowship in rural emergency medicine with the University of Tennessee Department of Family Medicine-Memphis in Covington, Tennessee, in 1999. I am board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine since 1996, and by the American Board of Physician Specialties Board of Certification in Emergency Medicine since 2002. I have supervised nurse practitioner providers and students, physician assistant providers and students, and medical students. I have clinical experience in the evaluation and treatment of abdominal pain, aortic aneurysm, aortic dissection, chest pain, myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism, conditions that cause shortness of breath, stroke, torsion (ovarian and testicular), trauma, and other emergent and urgent medical conditions commonly seen in the emergency department.
