Adult Emergency Medicine- Expertise in managing a broad spectrum of adult emergency medicine presentations including but not limited to : Chest pain (cardiac arrest/myocardial infarction/dysrhythmia’s/pulmonary embolism), abdominal pain (appendicitis/diverticulitis/ulcer disease/inflammatory bowel disease/perforated viscus), respiratory/pulmonary issues (respiratory failure/COPD/asthma/pneumonia), infectious diseases (sepsis/meningitis/osteomyelitis/diskitis), orthopedic issues (fractures/dislocations/compartment syndrome), penetrating and blunt trauma, obstetrical/gynecologic issues (complications of pregnancy/ectopic pregnancy/preeclampsia/eclampsia, pelvic inflammatory disease), neurological issues (CVA/stroke, headache/subarachnoid hemorrhage), neurosurgical issues (subdural/epidural hematoma, cauda equina), vascular issues (aortic aneurysm/dissection, ischemic limb/gangrene, DVT), environment issues (hypothermia/hyperthermia, animal/human bites), endocrine issues (thyroid disease/complications of diabetes mellitus, DKA), toxicologic issues (poisonings/overdose), geriatric issues (falls/altered mental status). Douglas Krug is Emergency Medicine residency trained, board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. With 38 years of full time Emergency Medicine practice at a high volume/high acuity Level II trauma center (ranked in top 10 in annual ED volume by Becker’s Hospital Review), Douglas Krug has had over 120,000 patient encounters. Experience in supervising and teaching residents and APP’s since accredited Emergency Medicine residency program started in 2019. Served as Director of Emergency Department and member of Medical Care Evaluation (Quality Assurance) Committee. Education: BA degree in Biology (cum laude) - Colgate University.
